Une chambre en India

7th April

Visit to Paris
to see
Une chambre en India
At Théâtre du Soleil
It was a strange and very nice experience seeing scenes from kattaikuttu/terrakuttu theatre being part of a play in Paris, as a very integral part of the play, as they were parts of the dreams of Cornélia

From an interview by V.R. Devika in the Hindu 27th May 2017
“It was a shock to me to discover this king of theatre forms, the Therukkoothu,” says Mnouchkine. I was struck by the powerful liberty and vitality of the form, which
it in all its vigour and splendour into the play. It is an example of the actual power of theatre and establishes itself as a kind of reminder of the fundamental and ancestral laws of theatre, which poke fun at our inconstant ways.”

It was a beautiful day in Paris and fascinating play.
I also had wanted to see a play directed by Ariane Mnouchkine for a very, very long time.
